What We Do

What We DoThe Start Of An Idea!

In 2003, Matt’s Dad worked with NJ Assemblyman and Perth Amboy Mayor Joseph Vas to develop a program to sell compact fluorescent lamps to senior citizens in Perth Amboy. The NJ Clean Energy program worked with Perth Amboy to reduce the costs of the lamps.

Later that year, Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman and Mr. Erickson received support from US Senator Bob Menendez (US Representative at the time). Senator Menendez worked to procure a HUD Block Grant that when combined with NJ Clean Energy rebates allowed for a distribution of free CFL bulbs to needy senior citizens. Photos of that distribution are shown at left. Many thousands of lamps were distributed to needy residents.

HelpLightNJ believes that students throughout the country can make a difference bringing efficient lighting to others in need.
